Polis Chrysochous (Πόλη Χρυσοχούς) is often referred to as just Polis. It is the largest town on the Akamas Peninsula in western Cyprus.
The Agios Nikolaos Church is in the center of town, but otherwise there is little of interest. The surrounding area is spectacular though. You rent mountain bikes, motorbikes and cars in Polis to explore the region, but hiking is also an excellent idea.
Polis is a good place to stay if you want to visit the Baths of Aphrodite, where Aphrodite used to make herself like a virgin again, after her nightly escapades according to the legend.
There are numerous hotels and restaurants in town, as well as several good beaches. Polis is 90 km west of Nicosia.
