Praia

The capital of Cabo Verde lies on the island of São Tiago. It isn't the country's most beautiful city, but it's the largest and it is quite interesting. The city's central area is known as Platô and lies on an elevated rocky area, whilst the suburbs around it are lower lying.
There are two beaches in Praia, both to the west of the center. One is called Praiamar and the other Quebra-Canela. Many foreign diplomats have their houses and embassies in the area near the beaches.
Most of the cheaper accommodation is located in the elevated part of town, but restaurants can be found everywhere.
