Puerto Ayora is the largest town in the Galápagos archipelago. It is located on the southern shore of Santa Cruz Island.

The town was named after former Ecuadorian president Isidro Ayora.

Puerto Ayora is home to the Charles Darwin Research Station where you can learn about the conservation efforts on the Galápagos Islands. The headquarters of the Galápagos National Park Service (GNPS) is also located in the town.

The Iglesia de San Francisco is a modern church that dates from 1968. Other churches in Puerto Ayora include the Iglesia de Edén and Iglesia de la Calle E. Both are 20th-century buildings in the northern part of town and both feature colourful wall paintings.

Puerto Ayora is 1,401 km west of Quito.
