Qiānshān Guójiā Gōngyuán (Qianshan National Park) literally translates as 'thousand lotus flower mountains'. It got its name from its peaks that are said to resemble the petals of the lotus flower, which had been dropped to earth by a goddess.
The park covers 44 km² (17 sq mi) in the Qiān shān shānmài (千山山脉, Qianshan Mountains) and features numerous Buddhist and Taoist temples, monasteries and nunneries. It is not allowed to enter the park by car.
One of the mountains is said to resemble Maitreya Buddha. Not far from the Buddha is a bird park.
Qianshan National Park is in China's Liaoning Province, 18 km (11 mi) southeast from Ānshān and 530 km northeast of Beijing.
