Queenstown

Queenstown lies in a glacial valley, on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown is well-known for its adventure attractions, including parasailing, schussing down icy rapids in jet boats, white-water rafting and bungee jumping off Skippers Canyon Bridge, although it is also possible to do 300 m bungee jumps from a helicopter. During the winter, skiing is also popular there.
In 1999 Queenstown caom in the news because extreme rain caused major floodings in the town. There are several hotels and restaurants in town. Queenstown is 640 km southwest of Wellington.
