Scotts Head is a small fishing village that sits on Soufrière Bay on Dominica's southernmost tip. The bay is a protected area known as Soufrière Scotts Head Marine Reserve. Scotts Head's shoreline is actually the rim of a sunken volcanic crater and scenic mountains back the town. Not far off the coast is Scotts Head Drop, which consists of a shallow coral ledge that drops abruptly to a depth of over 50 m (160 feet). The underwater wall boasts tube sponges and soft corals and is excellent for scuba diving.
For a marvelous view of Dominica's southern coast, drive the winding road up to the nearby village of Soufrière. At the top of the peninsula is the small beacon of Scotts Head lighthouse. The remains of the 18th century military battery of Fort Cachacrou are also there. Scotts Head is 10 km south of Roseau.
