Seixal is a small fishing village on Madera's northern coast. It is renowned for its vine terraces, where grapes are grown for the Sercial wine. In the harbor of Seixal are always numerous colorful fishing boats and there are several natural rock pools, but otherwise there is little of interest in the town. The road that leads from Seixal inland into the valley of the Seixal River, offers some excellent views.

There are several restaurants in Seixal and some accommodation is available. Seixal is 28 km northwest from Funchal.
