Tam Cốc consists of 3 natural caves and its name also means '3 caves'. These 3 caves are:

The caves sit on the Ngô Đồng River and can be visited on boat tours. These tours start at the town of Ván Lám. The female guides also sell handmade items to the tourists.

Tam Cốc is often referred to as 'the inland Ha Long Bay'. It is part of the Tràng An Scenic Landscape Complex and a UNESCO world heritage site.
