The Tunuloa Peninsula is often referred to as Natewa or Cakaudrove Peninsula. It is connected to the rest of the island of Vanua Levu by a narrow isthmus which forms Natewa Bay to its west.
The peninsula is an excellent area to explore by 4WD, although local buses are available as well. A gravel road runs along the peninsula up to Nailou in the northeast.
The landscape consists of copra plantations, old villages and some forest and there are numerous bird species.
A ferry connects Buca Bay on the eastern side of Tunuloa Peninsula with the nearby island of Taveuni. South of Buca Bay is the village of Dakuniba, where you can see several petroglyphs inscribed in rocks. It is not known what the purpose of these inscriptions was, or who made them.
The island of Rabi, just northeast of the peninsula, is also worth a visit.
Accommodation is available in several towns throughout the Tunuloa Peninsula.
