Viljandi is in the south of Estonia, 130 km southeast of Tallinn. Records indicate that the town already existed in 1283. Viljandi joined the Hanseatic League at the beginning of the 14th century.

Viljandi is a small, but interesting town. There is an open-air theatre, a ruined castle and you can see a huge steam engine there.

Viljandi has several hotels and restaurants.
