Viti Levu translates as 'Great Fiji' and it is the country's largest island. It is also the location of Suva, which is the largest city in Fiji and serves as its capital.
Other towns and cities on Viti Levu include Ba, Lautoka, Nadi, Nausori, Rakiraki and Sigatoka. The island is also home to several beach-reasorts such as Natadola Beach and Pacific Harbour. All these places are connected by a road that runs around Viti Levu's perimeter.
The island has ferry connections with many other islands in Fiji. There are numerous hotels and restaurants in Viti Levu, especially in the beach resorts.
