Whangaparāoa Bay

At the tip of East Cape, on New Zealand's North Island lies a string of beautiful bays, including Whangaparāoa Bay (Cape Runaway). The beaches are not too good though, as they are deeply shelved and littered with driftwood.

There is a lone, old Anglican church in the area that is worth a visit. Cape Runaway can only be reached on foot. If you plan to cross somebody's private land, it is wise to ask permission first.
