The town of Xcaret boasts some interesting Mayan ruins. Unfortunately, some of the archaeological site's original structures are incorporated within the modern-day Xcaret ParkXcaret Park. The beautiful inlet of caleta offers excellent snorkeling possibilities. There are tropical fish in all sorts and colors. Not far inland is a nice limpid pool in a limestone cave, known as cenote, where you can swim.

There is a beautiful bell-tower in Xcaret.

Accommodation and restaurants are available in town, but many people prefer to stay at nearby Playa del Carmen, where more facilities are available. Xcaret is 1245 km east of Mexico City.
