Zagora is the administrative center of the area around the Drâa Valley. The town was established during the time of French occupation and there is not much interesting to see, but it is a good place to stay if you want to explore more interesting places in the vicinity. There is a market in town each Wednesday and Sunday. The hill across the river provides excellent views over Zagora and the surrounding area and there are the remains of an Almoravid fortress.
There are several camp sites and hotels in town, as well as restaurants. The bus station is not far from the main roundabout on Boulevard Mohammed V. Tiznit has daily bus connections with Ouarzazate and Marrakech to the northwest. Zagora is 425 km southeast of Rabat, not far from the Algerian border.
