Colombia's northern coast along the Caribean Sea boasts numerous interesting towns and sights. Cartagena is the most fascinating city in Colombia. The town of Mompós is a beautiful little town south of Cartagena. The Parque Nacional Tayrona has the region's best beaches, while the Corales del Rosario are excellent for snorkeling and scuba diving. The tallest coastal mountain range in the world is the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in the north of the country. At Arboletes are some mud volcanoes and inland, deep in the jungle is the ancient city of the Tayrona Indians. It is known as La Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City) and it was the largest archaeological find in the Americas during the 20th century.
