Daman is situated at an altitude of 2322 m (7616 feet) above sea level and it offers spectacular views over the Himalayas. If it is not cloudy, you can watch an unimpeded panorama of snowcaps from Dhaulagiri to Mount Everest. If it is cloudy, you can try to see the Himalayan peaks from a watchtower, early in the morning. From the southern side of town there are fantastic views over the Terai and Indian further south. During spring the rhododendron forest on that side of town looks quite nice.
There are several hotels and restaurants in Daman. The town has daily bus connections with Kathmandu and the journey takes about four hours. If you are planning to drive to Daman by car, it will take you three hours. The route offers some of the world's most spectacular views and is also popular with mountain-bikers.
