The Ardennes (De Ardennen)
The southeastern part of Belgium is covered by the Ardennes, an area of the deep valleys of the Meuse (Maas), Lesse and Ourthe Rivers and lush pine forests. The region also includes some of the oldest citadels in Belgium. The area was also the place where the Battle of the Bulge was once fought. Tours to the old battlefields and other interesting sites are available.
The best place to stay is the town of Namur (Namen), which has good rail and road connections with the rest of Belgium, as well as Luxembourg.
