Estella was founded in the 11th century and is of great historical importance. The town is located in a beautiful part of Navarra and it is crossed by two rivers. The rivers provide Estella with delicious trouts and eels that earned the town a high reputation among gourmets.
Some of the most interesting buildings in Estella are the Palace of the Kings of Navarra, a rare example of Romanesque civil-architecture and the Iglesia de San Miguel, which houses a curious picture of Nicolás Martinez de Eguia together with 26 of his 30 children.
