52nd Street was formed in Manchester in 1983. Its members were Beverly Mc Donald, Derek Johnson, John Dennison, Tony Henry and Tony Thompson. Tony Henry's wrote "You're my last chance" and Nick Martinelli produced it. The track reached no. 1 in the r&b charts and another Tony Henry song, called "Tell me (how it feels)" reached the top spot too. By that time, Diane Charlemagne had joined the band, adding strong vocals.
