calloway

Reggie and Vincent Calloway were born in Cincinnati, OH. Their father was a trumpet player, their aunt sang opera and their uncle played keyboards. When he was only a child, Reggie used to play tunes on his grandmother's piano and later he learned to play trumpet. His brother Vincent became a trombone player. They both joined Midnight Star, but left in the late 1980's to form their own band, which they called Calloway. They released the single "I Wanna Be Rich", which became an instant hit, reaching no. 5 on the Billboard r&b charts and no. 2 on the pop charts in late 1989. These positions were much better than what they had achieved during 12 years with Midnight Star. Their debut album was called "All the way". It featured two more singles, "Sir Lancelot" and "All The Way". Three yeras later, Calloway released their second album, entitled "Let's get smooth". It included the hits "Major love" and "I desire you", but it was their last release ever. The brothers continued working as producers with Teddy Pendergrass, Pieces of a Dream and Bootsy Collins, as well as many others.
