L.J. Reynolds has been making music since the 1960's. At first he released his songs as Larry Chubby Reynolds, but later he changed that to L.J. Reynolds. In 1969 he signed up with Mainstream Records and in the following year he became the lead singer of The Relations. He changed record labels several times and in 1973, he replaced William Howard as the lead singer of The Dramatics. Reynolds stayed with that band until 1980, after which he signed a solo deal with Capitol. His albums were always well-received, but his audience was too small and he never made it to stardom. In 1984, Reynolds moved to the Mercury label, where he released the "Lovin' man" album. He rejoined the Dramatics in 1986.
