Lenny was born as Leonard White on 19 December 1949, in New York. He started his career playing as a drummer in local bands. By the end of the '1970's, he had formed the group Twennynine with Eddy Martinez, Skip Anderson, Jocelyn Smith, Carlo Vaughn and Barry Johnson. They got a record deal on Elektra. Later, Lenny White recorded his solo albums for the same label. He has also worked with Nicki Richards, Zuice, Pieces of a dream and Miles Davis.
