Marcus Miller was born on 14 June 1959 in Brooklyn, NY. When he was 10 years old his family moved to Queens. Marcus loved to play music and at the age of 13 he was already proficient on the clarinet, piano and bass guitar. By that time he had started to compose his own music as well. He continued to play, but the bass guitar became his favourite instrument and by the age of fifteen, he was working frequently with bands in New York City. In 1981, he joined his boyhood idol Miles Davis and spent two years touring. During his time on the road, Miller met numerous artists and developed a musical relationship with Luther Vandross. Later he produced music for others and spent many years as a session musician, but in 1993, Miller started concentrating on his solo career. He recorded numerous albums that are popular with r&b and dance-classic lovers all over the world.
