Nia Peeples was born on 10 December 1961. She appeared on the television show "Fame" for three seasons and later hosted an American music chart show for CBS. In 1988, Nia recorded an album on the Mercury label, but it was not a success. Nia's songs were later used for the soundtrack of the James Bond movie "License to Kill". Nia was married to vocalist Howard Hewett, but the marriage lasted only four years. In November 1997 she married stuntman Lauro Chartrand and two years later, Nia got a role as an undercover police in the CBS series "Walker, Texas Ranger".
