Tara Kemps' career ended before it even got a fair chance to grow. It was through her mutual connections with Giant Records and Big Beat records that she got her first record deal in 1990. Former KMEL-jock Hosh Gureli introduced her first single, 'Hold Tight', to the San Francisco area with immediate success. The follow-up single 'Piece of my heart' did almost as well but with a third single release from the album, 'Too much', numbers began to drop. Tara left Giant Records for Nerve records in 1992, where she released 'Come together' in 1994. The album as well as the title-track, which was released as a single, but failed to lived up to its expectations. Billboard magazine once described Tara Kemp as an artist with the mass appeal of Paula Abdul but with a voice more competent.
