Around 1,000 people have been evacuated, after the Volcán de Fuego erupted on 10 March. The volcano ejects lava, ash and rocks.

The Volcán de Fuego is the most active volcano in Guatemala. It is only 35 km from the capital of Guatemala City.

On 10 March is was reported that the famous Pompidou museum in Paris will be renovated and it will close for 5 years.

Until 22 September, only temporary exhibitions will be organized.

Flooding on 9 March in the Argentine city of Bahia Blanca has caused at least 16 fatalities. The inundations were caused by heavy rainfall that lasted for some 8 hours.

Buildings in the city are flooded, roads and bridges have been washed away and large parts of the region have been left without electricity.

Hundreds of thousands of Australians were left without electricity, after hurrican Alfred made landfall in the east of the country on 9 March.

Heavy rain and strong wind have caused heavy damage to buildings and infrastructure.

Authoroties say that the hurricane was the strongest tropical storm to hit the region since 1974.

Cyclone Garance has caused damage on the island of Réunion on 28 February. Streets were flooded and roofs were blown off buildings.

Trees were uprooted and power lines have been damaged. Some 182,000 households were left without electricity.

Heavy rains have caused flooding in several southern U.S. states on 17 February. In Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina, people got stuck in their cars and homes got flooded.

Some 400,000 people were left without electricity.

Kentucky seems to be the most affected state. Several fatalaties were reported.

The Greek island of Santorini has been rocked by hundreds of small earthquakes on 6 February. Damage has so far been minimal, but some 15,000 inhabitants and an unknown number of tourists have voluntarily evacuated as a precaution.
