Positano

Positano

Positano is the major port of the Sorrento area. It lies 30 km south of Naples and it is a marvelous place. Many dwellings have pink and honey-colored, tiered arcades and there are numerous nice cafés and hotels in town.

Some of the most interesting sites include the church of Santa Maria Assunta with its dome made of majolica tiles. It also features a 13th century Byzantine icon of a black Madonna. The Roman Archaeological Museum is an archaeological site, where you can see Roman dwellings and crypts. The Marina Grande beach is one of the area's best beaches.

Positano is 225 km southeast of Rome.
