Sea Lion Island

Sea Lion Island is very small, but it houses a variety of wildlife, including five species of penguin, as well as large colonies of other sea birds. The island has sandy beaches, where many elephant seals come to rest. Sea lions prefer the gravel beaches below the island's southern bluffs.

There is a lodge on Sea Lion Island, which is particularly popular with visitors from Stanley and Mount Pleasant. Sea Lion Island is the only place in the Falklands with any substantial cover of native tussock grass. Sea Lion Island is 120 km southwest of Stanley. It is the southernmost inhabited island of the Falkland Islands.
