Timgad is a site where you can see the remains of a Roman city in the Aurès Mountains of Algeria. It was founded around 100 BC by the Roman Emperor Trajan. In Roman times the city was called Colonia Marciana Ulpia Traiana Thamugadi.

The site is about 35 km east of Batna, which is a good place to stay if you want to visit the ruins. Timgad was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1982.
