Antsirabe

Antsirabe is 120 km southwest of Antananarivo. The town is located near two volcanic lakes and some hot springs. The market in Antsirabe is very large and there is not much you can't buy there. The town also boasts numerous fine examples of Merina architecture.

Antsirabe lies high up in the mountains, so it can get very cold. Be prepared and bring some warm clothing with you. You can explore the town by rented bicycle. There is plenty of accommodation in town, as well as many restaurants. Antsirabe is connected with the rest of the country by rail and road.
