Assam

Assam is India's major tea producing state, with about 60% of the domestic market. Oil is also found there. Assam is the largest state in northern India and it has excellent transportation possibilities. Most people come to Assam to visit its colorful capital of Gauhati (Gawahati). Also worth a visit are the town of Hajo and the Kaziranga National Park. There are numerous important Hindu temples scattered throughout the state.
