Cacao

Cacao is a small village that is home to countless Hmong refugees, who were relocated there from Laos in the 1970's. The fascinating Sunday market in Cacao has been heavily affected by the Hmong culture and boasts numerous stalls where Hmong embroidery and weaving are sold, as well as delicious local noodle soups.

Accommodation is available in Cacao, as well as numerous restaurants and food stalls. Cacao is 45 km south of Cayenne and 75 km (50 miles) west of the Cayenne-Régina paved highway.
