Dahshur

Dahshur used to be considered a military zone, so special permits were needed to enter the area, but nowadays it is easier. Dahshur is an extension of the necropolis of Memfis in southern direction. The area is scattered with many royal tombs and lies west of Dahshur village.

There are four pyramids in the area, of which the Bent Pyramid is the most famous one. The design is an intermediate form between the step pyramid and the true pyramid. The pyramid is very well preserved and has two entrances which makes it unique.

The ruins of the mortuary temple and Snefuru's temple are nearby. In Snefuru's temple you can see some interesting reliefs.
