Estavayer-le-Lac is a resort on the southeastern shore of Lake Neuchâtel, not far from the French border. The town boasts a perfectly preserved medieval center and on Lake Neuchâtel numerous water sports facilities are available.
One of the most interesting attractions in Estavayer-le-Lac is the Regional Museum though. The museum includes a collection of stuffed frogs. The animals were prepared in the 19th century, by François Perrier. The eccentric military man used much of his spare time to catch the frogs, preserve their skins and fill them with sand. He then arranged them in parodies of human situations, such as courting, studying, playing games, etc.
There are several hotels and restaurants in Estavayer-le-Lac. The town is 25 km southwest of Bern.
