Frederiksted

Frederiksted is best known for the Cruzan Rum Distillery. Guided tours, including free tasting are available there. Frederiksted is specialized in selling duty free items to cruise passengers. When no cruise ships are in the harbor of Frederiksted, the town is dead and nothing is going on.

Some accommodation is available in town. Frederiksted is on the western coast of Saint Croix Island, some 70 km south of Charlotte Amalie.

Not far southeast of Frederiksted is the Whim Estate, an old sugar plantation that has been converted into a museum. Also in the vicinity is the Saint George Village Botanical Garden, where you can see more than 1500 species of plants, as well as old plantation buildings, workshops and a wedding bower.
