Fuerteventura is the Canary Island with the oldest history. It has the longest beaches of the entire archipelago, most consisting of fine sand. There are great beaches even very close to the island's capital of Puerto Rosario. Paradises for fishermen and friends of nudism are the beaches at Jandía-Pajara, Sotavento, Corralejo and the island of Lobos. Between Pajara and Jandia is an almost untouched 6 km long stretch of beach. Fuerteventura is a paradise for spending your holidays at the beach, or to go fishing.
Fuerteventura lies close to the African continent; it is only separated from the mainland by a narrow channel. Large amounts of fish have to pass through this narrow channel, so you'll always see loads of fishing boats there.
Apart from Puerto Rosario, other interesting towns are Betancuria, Corralejos, La Oliva and the island of Lobos.
