Ibarra-San Lorenzo Railway

The Ibarra-San Lorenzo Railway links the highlands north of Quito with the coast, not far from the Colombian border. The 'train' that runs this stretch of railway, is a converted school bus mounted onto a railcar chassis. The scenery along the railway is absolutely spectacular and the views are excellent. It is worth taking this unforgettable trip for the scenery alone, even if you don't need to go to any of the places along the line.
