In Salah lies between El Goléa and Tamanrasset. Most buildings are constructed in the red Sudanese style. This town has a large hospital.
The most amazing feature in In Salah is its creeping sand dune. This dune lies on the western end of town near the Aoulef road. The dune moves about 20 centimeters per year, covering buildings on one side and uncovering buildings that may have been buried for generations on the other side.
A small market can be found in the town's center. There is a camping in the town and that is about the only accommodation available.
The road between El Goléa and Tamanrasset passes about a kilometer east of In Salah. The bus station is situated on this road. The trip to Tamanrasset takes about 19 hours.
