Kingstown is a nice town with a West Indian atmosphere. It has cobblestone streets, lined with beautiful colonial buildings. There are numerous street vendors along Bay and Bedford Streets and the town has an interesting fish market.
There are several nice churches in Kingstown. The most important one is the Catholic Saint Mary's Cathedral of the Assumption was built in 1820. It boasts Romanesque arches and columns, Gothic spires and Moorish ornamentation. Saint George's Cathedral and the Kingstown Methodist Church are also worth a visit.
A kilometer or so north of the city center are the Saint Vincent Botanic Gardens, the oldest botanical gardens in the West Indies. The gardens are home to numerous parrots and other birds. On the same grounds is the St Vincent National Museum, which features pre-Columbian stone carvings and clay works that were made by the island's early Amerindian settlers.
There are several hotels and restaurants in Kingstown. The town is on the southwestern side of Saint Vincent.
