Lake Tianchi
Tianchi (Lake of Heaven) is a small lake surrounded by lush mountains that lie like an oasis in the middle of the desert, 115 km east of Ürümqi. In the area you will see numerous yurts of the Kazak people who live there. Their horses roam freely in the mountains. During the summer it is also possible to visit the No 1 Glacier, which is 5 km further to the east.
Tianchi and the surrounding area are a good place to visit on a day trip from Ürümqi.
