Les Salines is widely regarded as Martinique's finest beach. The area of Les Salines has an arid climate and it is mostly sunny, even when other parts of the island are not. During weekends and holidays many locals flock to Les Salines, but the beach is big enough to accommodate everyone without getting too crowded.
Les Salines is backed by a large salt pond, known as Ãtang des Salines. Be careful, when visiting Les Salines, as there are many poisonous manchineel trees, particularly at the southeastern end of the beach. Most of the trees are marked with red paint. Just remember not to touch these trees.
Les Salines is on the undeveloped southern tip of Martinique, some 30 km southeast from Fort-de-France.
