Lewiston is an industrial city on the Androscoggin River in southwestern Maine, opposite Auburn. In the early days, there used to be textile mills in Lewiston. They were powered by the city's 15 m (50 feet) high waterfall. Bates College and the Memorial Armory, which dates from 1927 and boasts large auditoriums, are in Lewiston. Nearby is a bird sanctuary.

There are several hotels and restaurants in town. Lewiston is 40 km southeast from Augusta and 800 km northeast from Washington D.C.
