Madang Province

Papua New Guinea's (PNG) Madang Province consists of the fertile coastal strip in the north of the country. It also includes some volcanic islands off the country's northern coast, some of which boast active volcanoes. The provincial capital of Madang is beautifully situated on a peninsula jutting into the sea. In Madang, excursions to nearby Kranket Island, which boasts a beautiful lagoon and several interesting villages, and Long Island, where you can see numerous bird species, are available.
