Nagarjun Forest Reserve

A wall surrounds the Nagarjun Forest Reserve, so the deer, pheasant and other animals that roam the area cannot escape. The area within the walls is one of the last untouched forest areas in the Kathmandu Valley. The main entrance is not far from Kathmandu's Thamel district and can be reached by bicycle. It takes about 20 minutes to get there. Inside the park are several walking trails.

Not far from the Nagarjun Forest Reserve is a number of limestone caves that are a popular Buddhis pilgrimage site. A small lookout provides marvelous views over the surrounding countryside.
