Ponta da Calheta

Ponta da Calheta is the southernmost tip of Porto Santo. It marks the place where Porto Santo's southern sandy beaches meet with its northern rocky coast. Ponta da Calheta is a nice place to visit at dusk, when the setting sun casts shadows over the much eroded rocks of the offshore Islet of Cal that cause wonderful light and color effects. The beach at Calheta is a mixture of rocky pools and sandy dunes with crystalline waters. Nearby is a restaurant, where you can have a meal of fresh fish.
