The Pinar del Río Province is in the westernmost part of Cuba. The two parts of the province that are protected as a UNESCO biosphere, boast some of Cuba's most scenic landscapes. The Cordillera de Guaniguanico is a 175 m long paradise for hikers. The scenery around the town of Viñales is absolutely stunning. There are numerous caves with underground rivers, where you can dive.
Near the town of María la Gorda are excellent scuba-diving possibilities. In San Diego de los Baños is a 19th century spa, which is fed by a natural hot spring, while the country's finest tobacco is grown in Pinar del Rîo.
