Quthing

Quthing is called Moyeni, or 'Place of the Wind', by the Sephuthi people. The town is split in two parts, most of it being Lower Quthing. Most dwelling and shops are found there. Upper Quthing is built up a hill providing fantastic views over the area, including the Orange River Gorge. Upper Quthing is where most accommodation is available and where many statues from colonial times can be found.

About 5 km west of town is the Masitise Cave House, a mission building hewn out from the rocks, where San paintings and 180 million year old dinosaur footprints can be seen. There is also a sandstone church in the neighborhood.

Quthing is 130 km (80 miles) south of Maseru and Lesotho's southernmost place of any size.
