Ródos (Rhodes)

Ródos (Rhodes) is the largest island of the Dodecanese Archipelago. The town of Ródos is Europe's largest medieval settlement that is still inhabited. In the town you'll find numerous medieval buildings. Especially around the Avenue of the Knights are some beautiful examples of medieval architecture. The Palace of the Grand Masters was supposed to be used by Mussolini to spend his holidays, but he never went there. An old Crusader Castle stands on a rocky outcrop above the town. Next to it is the Acropolis of Lindos.
