Selçuk

The main tourist center for the region around Efes (Ephesus) is the town of Selçuk (25,000 inhabitants). In the town's center there is a beautiful museum and Roman, Christian and Muslim sights are found around the town. They include the St John Basilica and a Byzantine Aqueduct. The city of Izmir is the closest transportation center. It takes about one hour from Izmir to Selçuk and many trains and buses are available. Selçuk lies about 3km (2mi) from Efes.
