Soufrière

The French founded Soufrière in 1746. It was named after the sulfur springs that are located nearby. Only several kilometers inland are some of Saint Lucia's highest peaks. Soufrière itself boasts numerous old buildings in various states of disrepair. In the center of town is the stone Catholic Church, while the Soufrière Market is north of there. Baskets, straw hats and spices are sold there.

There are several hotels and restaurants in Soufrière. The town is 20 km south of Castries.
